Pioneer XDJ DJ Courses

Overview

What You’ll Learn

The all in one Pioneer DJ units such as the XDJ RX2, XDJ RR, and XDJ XZ almost perfectly mirror a CDJ setup, which you will find in any pro DJ booth. After taking these DJ courses, you’ll be confident playing in any club DJ booth on a CDJ and DJM set up. Or if you already own a set of CDJ’s/DJM mixers, then these courses are also applicable.

You’ll learn how to mix creatively and confidently with your equipment, helping your sets stand out from the crowd. Our courses will help you master everything from the foundations of beat matching and mixing to advanced cross-genre mashups and creative use of effects, plus much more.

We pride ourselves on not just showing you what a button does but how to use it creatively. The lessons all work in chronological order so that as you master one skill, you’ll be able to combine it with others, instantly improving your creativity. Each video in the DJ course features overhead shots of the equipment, making it easy for you to follow along step by step.

Course FAQs

Which course is right for me?

Here is a breakdown to help you choose the right course to start at:

Pioneer XDJ Beginner DJ Course

This DJ course is the perfect starting point if you’re just getting started with your XDJ unit or the Rekordbox software in export mode. If you’re struggling to beat match by ear manually or need to master phrasing, music theory and mixing, this is the place to get started. This course covers some of the initial performance features and effects used by DJs, so you can even begin to add some extra flair to your transitions.

Pioneer XDJ Intermediate DJ Course

The intermediate DJ course is the perfect place to start if you already know how to beat match manually and mix intro to outro confidently. This course will help you discover all the creative tools available on your equipment. You’ll learn how to start mixing creatively, use the effects to their full potential, mix between genres and more! If you feel stuck mixing intro to outro and want to take your skills further, this is the one for you.

Do I need the XDJ course or Rekordbox Course?

These Pioneer XDJ courses are filmed and designed for DJs using USB’s to play their music after exporting from Rekordbox. (We explain how to do this within the course)

If you’re using Rekordbox in performance mode (with your laptop plugged in), then the Rekordbox DJ courses are more suitable as the performance pads work slightly differently and you may want to understand how this mode works more in-depth.

However, please note that the Rekordbox courses are designed for controllers, so there may be lessons on features in Rekordbox that your XDJ all in one unit can’t access.

What equipment will I need?

To make the most of this course, you will need one of the following setups:

  • Pioneer XDJ RX
  • Pioneer XDJ RX2
  • Pioneer XDJ RR
  • Pioneer XDJ XZ

or a combination of the following CDJ/XDJ/DJM setup:

  • CDJ 3000
  • CDJ 2000nexus
  • CDJ 2000NX2
  • XDJ 1000MK2
  • XDJ 700
  • DJM 900nexus
  • DJM 900NXS2
  • DJM 750MK2
  • DJM 450
  • DJM-250 (This mixer works for the beginner course but not the intermediate as it doesn’t feature effects, a large part of the intermediate course)

What music should I use?

There is a free direct download for our Crossfader Music Pack filled with exclusive music from friends of ours. You won’t be able to find these tracks anywhere else! Some of these tracks are used in our lessons so that you can follow along step by step.

All the techniques taught in our courses, however, can be applied or adapted to most music. Our aim is for you to get creative and mix confidently with your music library.

The beginner course also has Crossfader DJ Tools available to download. We develop these tools to help you master basic skills such as timing and beat-matching manually.

Who's the tutor?

Our dedicated DJ tutor Jamie Hartley started working in the industry as a full-time DJ over a decade ago at the age of 16. Since 2014 he’s worked to build Crossfader from a small UK based DJ school where he taught aspiring DJs in his studio into what you see today, a global online DJ school and community.

From working one to one for years in a studio, Jamie has developed foolproof and systematic ways of breaking down DJ skills and techniques so you can master them! Many other DJ schools will show you how things work rather than teaching you the creative skills needed to help you stand out from the crowd.

What Support Will I Receive?

After you enrol in a course, you will instantly access all the videos and lessons to watch as many times as you like. Each lesson has a dedicated comments area for you to ask tutors any questions you may have. You can also get in touch with tutors via email if you’re having problems, and we’re there to support you every step of the way.

How Do I View My Course?

Purchased courses are instantly accessible via our student portal learning area. You can access your course and lessons 24/7 and watch each video as many times as you like. If you have an iPhone, we also have an iOS app to access our learning portal on the go! Everything in the app syncs up with the web so that you can work seamlessly between the two.

You can also take your lessons on the move by downloading them for offline viewing inside the app. Just like Netflix!

Which Languages Are The Courses Filmed In?

Our courses are all filmed in English. Unfortunately, we don’t have subtitles available in other languages. Multi-language support is something we will be adding in the future so check back for updates.
